The event featured youth speakers, presentations from the Michigan Works! Southeast Adult Education program, and an introduction to the benefits of joining the JMG program. Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates, the premier program of Youth Solutions, is a comprehensive program for youth in and out of schools, helping them obtain the skills and knowledge needed to identify a pathway for post-secondary success, while overcoming individual barriers.
Over 20 attendees included JMG youth, alumni, and family were led by Michael Cain, JMG Specialist at the Jackson Michigan Works! Southeast Service Center.
Emily Salisbury, JMG enrollee agreed with Michael Cain’s description of the program. “If it takes a village to raise a child, JMG is that village”, Salisbury said.
A JMG Alumni, Shania Riley, credited the program for her opportunity to go to nursing school. “All I had to do was show up to the events and Michael and the JMG were there to help guide me and explore career paths I hadn’t thought about.” Riley is currently working as a CNA and will be starting nursing school next year.
