This has prompted a strong reaction, with Ben Shelton responding to Sinner’s ban in a somewhat blunt fashion.

Despite being unable to compete until the Italian Open, Sinner will train in Monte Carlo after the rules have enabled that to take place.

Jannik Sinner’s fitness coach publicly reacts to three month ban

After the alleged contamination of clostebol through a massage from physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, Sinner parted ways with both him and fitness coach Umberto Ferrera.

Following this, Sinner recruited Novak Djokovic’s former fitness coach Marco Panichi after working together for seven years.

Sinner added Panichi to his team in September, with the Italian adding the Australian Open, ATP Finals and the Shanghai Masters to his resume since then.

When speaking to Sky Sports Italy, Panichi has publicly reacted to Sinner’s ban and explained that he was trying to take the positives from the situation.

“The fact that we have so much time is almost like planning for a track and field season,” said Panichi. “In such a long period of time, we can definitely go more deeply into features and conditions that we want to improve.

“We are talking about small things because these ‘Formula 1 machines’ are already highly evolved, but the fact remains that still from a motivational point of view it is an important boost to know that we can devote so much time to certain things.

“It’s going to be a new experience, and I’m grateful, although I don’t want such a situation, that I can have all this time on my hands.”

Jannik Sinner’s Las Vegas exhibition postponed

Despite his suspension, Sinner was still able to play an exhibition in Las Vegas against Taylor Fritz.

However, this is no longer going ahead after the men’s event was postponed following withdrawals from both players.

Sinner withdrew following his ban, and was subsequently replaced by Casper Ruud, but then Fritz followed after continuing to struggle with an abdominal injury.

Despite the men’s event being cancelled, the women’s exhibition between Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka will still take place in Las Vegas on Saturday March 1.

Following this exhibition match, both the ATP and WTA Tours will head to California for Indian Wells.
