Jakub Mensik vs Tomas Machac Prediction
Jakub Mensik has missed the last couple of ATP Tour events since Rotterdam and the 19-year-old will be aiming to build some momentum before the Sunshine Double in March.
The youngest player in the top 50 of the world rankings will be hoping to build on his decent start to 2025 but he has been handed a tough opening match against compatriot Tomas Machac.
This is the first time the pair have played on the ATP Tour although they unquestionably know each other’s game extremely well.
After the Australian Open, Machac went to Dallas rather than Rotterdam so he has been in North America and that may just help him acclimatise that bit better and help his preparations for this tournament.
The 24-year-old has looked pretty good so far this year but this match will get him focused pretty quickly. He will want to put a marker down and show he is the top Czech player; as the world rankings suggest. Mensik will surely raise his game too and give him a tough test but we just have to lean towards the more experienced player here.
