The Jacksonville Jaguars downgraded one of their defensive starters to out on Sunday.
Starting safety Darnell Savage, listed as questionable by the Jaguars on the team’s final injury report, will not play on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. The safety is dealing with a quad injury he suffered in practice last week. This will be the second consecutive game that Savage has missed.
Savage joined the Jaguars on a three-year contract this offseason after playing the first five years of his career with the Green Bay Packers. In his first appearance with the Jaguars this season, Savage recorded two passes defended in the team’s 20-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
In his career, Savage has appeared in 73 games (70 starts). In that time, Savage has recorded 302 total tackles, nine interceptions and 34 passes defended.
Savage is the second starter who has been ruled out for Jacksonville. Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram was also ruled out for the matchup. Engram suffered a hamstring injury in pregame warmups last week.
