Spartanburg Methodist College has announced the hiring of Blake Jackson as the new head men’s basketball coach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Blake to Spartanburg Methodist College and the city of Spartanburg,” said Athletic Director Megan Aiello. “Blake’s passion and commitment to developing the player as a whole are evident in all he does. I look forward to watching him lead this program in our first year as a NAIA institution, and as we look to the future as a member of the AAC.”
“I am blessed and honored to be the head coach of the SMC Pioneers,” said Jackson. “I want to thank President Scott Cochran and Athletic Director Megan Aiello for this amazing opportunity to lead the men’s basketball program. I am excited for the opportunity to build new relationships and continue with the success this program has already experienced.”
Jackson comes to SMC after having spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach at Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida. With the Seahawks, he helped guide the program to an 18-11 overall record with an 8-6 Sun Conference mark. Jackson was involved in the player development, implementation of offensive and defensive schemes along with game preparation. His efforts helped lead Keiser to a NAIA National Tournament appearance, the Sun Conference Player of the Year (Vincent Miszkiewicz) and the Sun Conference Freshman of the Year (Calvin Sirmans).
Before joining the coaching staff at Keiser, he served as an Assistant Coach at Coastal Alabama North Community College in Monroeville, Alabama and as an Assistant Coach (2019-20) and Interim Head Coach (2020-21) at Macomb Community College. Jackson also spent five seasons on the coaching staff at NCAA Division I, Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Pioneers will tip off the 2024-25 season with a matchup on October 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Columbia (S.C.).
