IDF reiterated warning to Gazans after warning shots
“IDF troops operated to distance suspects who posed a threat to them in different areas of the Gaza Strip,” the military said in a statement.
“In one incident, an IAF aircraft fired a warning shot at a suspicious vehicle that was advancing northward from the central Gaza Strip along a non-approved inspection route, thus violating the terms of the agreement.”
These restrictions also apply to sea, the IDF stressed. The statement said that “the Israeli Navy observed vessels that were violating the security restrictions in the maritime area of the Gaza Strip and fired warning shots to distance them. The vessels did not retreat and additional shots were fired. The vessels returned to the shore.”
“Furthermore,” the statement continued, “in the central Gaza Strip, two suspects who posed a threat to IDF troops, and warning shots were fired to distance them. As the suspects did not retreat, IDF troops fired additional shots, and a hit was identified. Additionally, IDF troops operating in the area fired warning shots in several areas in the Gaza Strip, following suspects who were approaching the troops and posing a threat to them.”
The IDF stressed its commitmnt to implementing the ceasefire and hostage release agreement, but “is prepared for any scenario and will continue to take any necessary actions to thwart any immediate threat to IDF soldiers. The IDF once again calls on the residents of Gaza to follow its instructions and avoid approaching troops deployed in the area.”
