Haniyeh was assassinated early Wednesday morning at his residence in Tehran, according to an official statement from Hamas confirming his death.
Reports from Iranian media indicate that the deputy secretary-general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement has described Haniyeh’s assassination as a “great loss.”
