Watch East Tennessee’s Lincoln fly at Philadelphia Eagles playoff game
The 27-year-old bald eagle was born and trained in Kodak, Tenn., and is in his rookie season with the Eagles, tackling an iconic national anthem flyover before games.
The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t even in the playoffs, but when it comes to best cities for football fans, WalletHub ranks the Steel City at the top — outpointing New York and the two cities with teams in Super Bowl 59: Kansas City and Philadelphia.
How can that be?
WalletHub cited the recent Super Bowl success of the Steelers, the size of its stadium and the extra juice provided by the Pittsburgh Panthers college football team as reasons it ranked Pittsburgh as the best city for football fans.
“The Steelers are tied with the New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl victories, with six, and last won in the 2008-2009 season,” read WalletHub’s findings. “Football fans in the city can watch games at the 68,400-seat Acrisure Stadium, which also hosts the University of Pittsburgh Panthers.
“When it comes to the NFL specifically, the Pittsburgh Steelers have some of the most engaged football fans in the country.”
Eagles‘ fans would have every right to question WalletHub’s findings, however.
The Eagles would have played in three Super Bowls (counting next weeks’ Super Bowl 59), and won Super Bowl 52 — all after the Steelers’ won their last Super Bowl.
Lincoln Financial Field seats 67,594, just a few hundred seats less than the former Heinz Field.
Pittsburgh does have the edge when it comes to hosting the Panthers. Lincoln Financial Field is home to the Temple Owls football team, which averaged a pedestrian 13,919 attendance per game last season.
In comparison, the Panthers drew an average of 53,077 fans per game during the 2024 season.
Adding fuel to the fire, WalletHub put Kansas City at fifth on its list of best cities for football fans, and ranked Philadelphia 11th, behind Dallas (2), Green Bay (3), Boston (4), New York (6), Los Angels (7), San Francisco (8), New Orleans (9) and Miami (10).
Don’t take it too hard, Eagles fans; you’re still the most loyal of all fanbases.
