Lakers rookie Bronny James has experienced a season’s worth of movement during the first two months of his first NBA campaign. Such is the life of a late second-round pick who splits time between a franchise and its G League affiliate.
James will check off another box on Dec. 25, when he’ll suit up on Christmas Day for the first time in his professional career. LA is a mainstay on the NBA’s holiday slate and this year, the team will travel north to take on Stephen Curry and the Warriors.
Up to this point in the season, James has appeared in seven NBA games and seven NBA G League games. He missed time with a heel injury before returning to the floor and turning in some impressive performances with the South Bay Lakers.
With South Bay’s season not set to restart until Friday, Dec. 27, James is expected to be with the Lakers for their Christmas Day tilt with the Warriors. Will he play? Here is the latest on his status.

James is expected to be active Wednesday for the Lakers, but there is no guarantee he will play.
This season, James has played in seven of the 16 games for which he has been active. He last saw NBA action on Dec. 8, when LA got a nine-point win over Portland.
Two of James’ appearances this year have held added significance. On opening night, he and his father, LeBron James, made history by becoming the first father-son duo to share the court in the NBA.
James’ first NBA points came in Cleveland, the city he was born in and spent his formative years while his dad ascended into superstardom.
While James continues to develop, he has not yet carved a role with the NBA’s Lakers. He could share the floor with his father on the holiday, but head coach JJ Redick will also be prioritizing what LA needs to do to win a crucial game.
