Iranian President Pezeshkian meets Hamas leaders in Doha
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has met a high-ranking Hamas delegation, including Khalil al-Hayya, in Doha after travelling to Qatar, as shown by images broadcast by Iranian state media.
Pezeshkian was in Qatar for a summit of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue in the Gulf state.
The political leader of the Hamas office in Doha, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed during a visit to Tehran at the end of July. Iran has blamed Israel for his death.
Al-Hayya is described as the deputy head of Hamas’s politburo.
