“Three of the ten IPL teams will play at 2 venues each. DC will play their home games in Visakhapatnam and at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. RR will play their two home games at Guwahati – where they host KKR and CSK – and play the remainder of the home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.  PBKS, meanwhile, will play their four home matches at the New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh while the picturesque Dharamsala will host three home games of PBKS – against LSG, DC and MI – at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium,” informed BCCI in its release.

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will play their first match of the season when they face each other in Visakhapatnam on March 24, 2025. Meanwhile, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host its first game of the season when home team Gujarat Titans (GT) play against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 25, 2025.

The matches of the season that will be played across 13 venues will include 12 double-headers. While the afternoon games will begin at 03.30 PM IST, the evening games will begin from 07.30 PM IST, informed BCCI in a release.

A total of 13 venues are set to host 74 matches over 65 days in IPL 2025. The league stage will take place from March 22 to May 18. Notably, Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru just once on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are set to take on RCB twice on Chennai (March 28) and Bengaluru (May 3).

The schedule of IPL 2025 has been announced by the official broadcaster. The opening match of the tournament will take place on March 22 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The final of the tournament will take place on May 25.

IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday named Rajat Patidar as its captain for the upcoming season starting March 21, replacing South African Faf du Plessis who was released from the squad last year. Patidar was among RCB’s retained players before the mega auction in November, 2024 and has the experience of leading Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) and the Vijay Hazare Trophy (ODI). The 31-year-old, who signed up with the franchise in 2022, guided Madhya Pradesh to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final where his side lost to Mumbai by five wickets last year.

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday announced the signing of Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman as a replacement for Allah Ghazanfar who has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 due to an injury. The 18-year-old Afghan spinner had suffered a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis, and he will miss the upcoming Champions Trophy as well. Ghazanfar had sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recent tour to Zimbabwe.
