Here’s an early game-by-game win-loss prediction for the Cyclones for their 2025 schedule, beginning with a road game against Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland, on Aug. 23 and concluding with a game at Oklahoma State on Nov. 29.

The Cyclones will host South Dakota, Iowa, Arizona, BYU, Arizona State and Kansas this season. They also have road games at Arkansas State, Cincinnati, Colorado and TCU, looking to improve on their 11-3 overall record and 7-2 Big 12 record in 2024.

Aug. 23: Iowa State at Kansas State (Dublin, Ireland)

Talk about a big game. It’s the season opener and its a Big 12 conference showdown between teams with legitimate conference title aspirations. Kansas State will edge Iowa State in a thriller.

Iowa State record prediction: 0-1 (0-1 Big 12)

Aug. 30: South Dakota at Iowa State

South Dakota is coming off an 11-3 season and is an FCS foe that can’t be taken lightly. Iowa State won’t take the Coyotes lightly.

Game prediction: Iowa State 35, South Dakota 17

Iowa State record prediction: 1-1

Sept. 6: Iowa at Iowa State

Iowa State beat Iowa in this game last season on the road, 20-19. It gets the Hawkeyes at home this time. Advantage: Cyclones.

Game prediction: Iowa State 24, Iowa 17

Iowa State record prediction: 2-1

Sept. 13: Iowa State at Arkansas State

This game provides a perfect opportunity for the Cyclones to get ready and to get right for the resumption of Big 12 play. They also get a week off after this game to prepare for conference play.

Sept. 27: Arizona at Iowa State

Arizona’s Big 12 opener is at Iowa State. Not ideal for the Wildcats. Arizona’s defense won’t be able to get enough stops to pull off an upset of the Cyclones.

Oct. 4: Iowa State at Cincinnati

Cincinnati does have something going for it in this game … it is playing at home. But we don’t think home-field advantage will be enough to beat the Cyclones.

Oct. 11: Iowa State at Colorado

The Buffaloes never lost more than one game in a row last season, but this isn’t last season. Iowa State comes into Boulder and hands Colorado a third straight loss.

Iowa State record prediction: 6-1 (3-1 Big 12)

Oct. 25: BYU at Iowa State

These teams did not face off last season, with Iowa State getting into the Big 12 title game over BYU thanks to a tiebreaker. This game could be a classic.

Nov. 1: Arizona State at Iowa State

Iowa State has had this game circled since the Big 12 schedule was released. The Cyclones will be ready for this game, eager to get some revenge for their loss to Arizona State in the Big 12 title game last season.

Nov. 8: Iowa State at TCU

Could this be a trap game for the Cyclones? We don’t think so. They’ll be focused and ready to build off the win against Arizona State.
