Simone Inzaghi is confident that striker Marcus Thuram can be fit for next weekend’s Serie A showdown against Napoli.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to DAZN, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s 1-0 victory over Genoa. He updated on the France international’s condition.
Inter Milan take on Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona next Saturday.
And it already has the feel of a potential title-decider.
Next weekend’s match will pit the two teams that are first and second in the Serie A table.
For a number of weeks now, Inter and Napoli have marked themselves as the two main favourites for the Scudetto.
Therefore, naturally, both Inter and Napoli will hope to have their key players available.
And for the Nerazzurri, the biggest doubt has concerned striker Marcus Thuram.
The 27-year-old suffered a blow to his ankle during a Serie A clash with Fiorentina earlier this month.
Thuram was able to come off the bench against Juventus. However, he had not really shaken off the ankle knock, and looked to be lacking a lot of sharpness.
Then, Marcus Thuram missed out on yesterday’s Serie A win over Genoa. He is also unlikely to be available against Lazio in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi updated on the condition of striker Marcus Thuram.
“It’s getting better,” said the Nerazzurri coach.
“We’re working one day at a time.”
“We haven’t seen him back on the pitch yet,” Inzaghi said of Thuram. “In the last little while he’s done everything to make himself available, but he had an injury problem against Fiorentina.”
“But he’s working day and night to improve,” the Inter coach said.
“We’re confident,” Inzaghi added. “The medical staff seem very calm to me.”
“If he’s not available on Tuesday [against Lazio in the Coppa Italia] then we hope he will be in Naples.”
