Anthony Davis will miss at least one week of game action for the Los Angeles Lakers, which means they will have to work very hard to replace the many things he brings them, especially on the defensive end. They will start their Davis-less stretch of games on Thursday against the Washington Wizards before they get seriously tested by contests versus the New York Knicks on Saturday and the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 4.
Unfortunately, the Lakers will be without two other players on Thursday. Reserve guard Gabe Vincent will miss his third straight game, while forward Dorian Finney-Smith will also sit out versus the Wizards.
These three absences are sure to compromise the Lakers’ defense. They will have to have a strong team effort in order to contain Wizards guard Jordan Poole, who is averaging 20.7 points and 4.9 assists a game while shooting 39.5% from 3-point range, all of which are career-highs.
