Over 300 people across the industry have batted and bowled for good at UnLtd’s annual Big Clash cricket tournament in Melbourne and Sydney.
The annual event sees usual industry competitors unite on the cricket pitch, to raise funds for UnLtd’s work supporting at-risk youth charities.
In Melbourne, men’s Tech team and women’s Media Owners team took home the coveted trophy. In Sydney, the women’s final saw Agencies beat Media Owners by 33 runs. In the men’s final, it was a tight battle between Tech and Media Owners with Tech claiming victory by 7 runs.
The Players of the Day were Lexi Merton and Ben Johnston in Melbourne and Marika James and Sam Powell in Sydney. The Fastest Bowler competition by Seven winners were Alex Erwin-Ross and Lexi Merton in Melbourne and Kellyn Coetzee and Lachlan Anderson in Sydney.
In memory of a much-loved UnLtd supporter and regular Big Clash Umpire, the Melbourne event also saw the introduction of a special recognition, the Alex Pekish Courage Award. The inaugural winner of the award was Sam Kelsall.
The players and spectators were treated to a festival vibe and activations ranging from gelato carts to kombi keg van, thanks to event sponsors News Corp Australia, QMS and Seven.
Kellyn Coetzee, captain of the winning Agency team said, “What a match! We are thrilled to be taking home the coveted trophy after such a great day of cricket, community and giving back. It was also inspiring to see so many beginner cricketers pick up the bat for the first time in their life and having a great time doing so. I’m so proud of my team, they gave it all on and off the field.”
