The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday restricted the entry and movement of the mainstream and digital media at its stadiums in Karachi and Lahore which are under construction ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. The PCB is in a scramble to complete the renovation work of the stadiums ahead of next month’s Champions Trophy.
Karun Nair continued his purple patch with the willow in hand as he smashed an incredible unbeaten 88 runs off just 44 deliveries on Thursday in the semifinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy between Vidarbha and Maharashtra.
The PCB has earmarked the starting prices for Champions Trophy tickets at PKR 1000 which is as cheap as Rs 310 in Indian currency, as per an internal document of the cricket board in possession of PTI.
The document, however, does not include suggested ticket prices for the matches in Dubai chosen as a neutral venue to host India’s matches and perhaps even a semi-final and final if Rohit Sharma’s men qualified for these knockout games.
Yuvraj Singh, one of the finest left-handers to have played the game, lauded Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma for resting himself from the fifth and last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney due to a lean run. Head caoch Gautam Gambhir’s role has also come under the scanner following the Australia debacle but Yuvraj defended both his former teammates.
Former India batter Yuvraj Singh feels a player struggling for form should always return to playing domestic cricket irrespective of his stature in the national team amid the raging debate on whether stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should show up in Ranji Trophy matches.
Former Saurashtra batter Sitanshu Kotak named India’s batting coach ahead of the upcoming limited-overs series against England and the Champions Trophy next month after assistant coach Abhishek Nayar’s performance came under scrutiny during the tour of Australia.

India’s dwindling form in Test cricket has led to a series of questions over which direction the team is headed to in terms of playing style and personnel. The art of constructing innings is something that a majority of Indian players seem to have shunned or forgotten and it’s a fact that’s been admitted by head coach Gautam Gambhir who blames it on the popularity of T20 cricket. There’s question mark over the ageing superstars whether they merit a place anymore.
Amidst this, there are reports of an alleged rift between captain Rohit Sharma, coach Gambhir and chief of selector Ajit Agarkar. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla though has dismissed the reports.
Form, fitness permitting, this could be the composition of India’s squad unless the selectors throw up a surprise. There’s suspense over Jasprit Bumrah’s availability though.
Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami
Out of the eight teams taking part in the 2025 Champions Trophy, only India and Pakistan are yet to reveal their preliminary squads. Australia, England, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and South Africa have submitted their provisional squads with the ICC. The BCCI selection committee is expected to meet later this week to finalise the squad.
