There are many Main Street shopping options throughout the state, but one Indiana town was recently named one of the best places in the country for it.
As the weather begins to warm up, folks all across the Hoosier State will begin to get out more and do a little shopping from store to store. Throughout the state, Indiana has a lot of small businesses that thrive along each town’s Main Street. Shopping along these streets consists of going on a casual stroll from small business to small business, even grabbing some food in the process.
We have beautiful Main Streets full of great small shops where you can find many unique and beautiful items. From boutique shops to antique shops, eateries, and amazing breweries, these Main Streets have it all. Recently, the website Cheapism found the best town in each state for Main Street shopping. Cheapism says that out of all the towns in Indiana that offer Main Street shopping, the best option is in Madison.
Madison’s downtown goes all out for the holidays, but also shines in the offseason with a Main Street district of artisanal candy and coffee shops, restaurants, carriage rides, tours, bed and breakfasts, antique shops, and galleries.

A majority of these towns were given their names in the mid-to-late 1800s as settlers making their way across the country found unclaimed plots of land and decided to make them their own. While I imagine they thought the names they came up with were innocent, and perhaps a tribute to something in their lives, pop culture has warped our minds to the point since then that we can’t help but think of something about the town that was never intended by its founders.
