PHILADELPHIA – Malik Reneau, Indiana’s leading scorer and one of the most consistent post players in the Big Ten, will miss IU’s game Sunday against Penn State through an undisclosed injury.
Reneau left Thursday’s win against Rutgers on just the second possession of the first half with an apparent knee/leg injury. He was down for several minutes before limping off the court and into Indiana’s locker room.
IndyStar understands Reneau’s absence isn’t expected to be lengthy, perhaps better measured in days than weeks. But he will not play Sunday when the Hoosiers face Penn State in The Palestra.
Reneau averages 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. In his absence Thursday, IU turned to Oumar Ballo off the bench, Ballo finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds in an 84-74 victory. Ballo is listed as questionable on Sunday’s Big Ten-mandated availability report, after played 32 minutes against Rutgers.
