Fourth ball of the 41st was slightly wide outside off, Rashid challenged Pandya to go for it and he did so with aplomb, blasting it over long on for six. Pandya stepped out next ball again and sent the fifth ball over long off for another six. Then no rush of blood to the head from Pandya, he simply comes forward to defend, having done what he wanted in that over. Rashid sent it in at a good length, it turns sharply past the outside edge of Pandya’s straight bat hits the top of off. That is virtuoso stuff from Rashid. All any batter could do against something like that is nod in appreciation and walk off with the bat tucked in his armpit.

Iyer took a single off the second ball and then Rashid fires the third in full. A soft end to an extraordinary innings, he walks off to a standing ovation from the crowd in Ahmedabad.
