Much deservedly, Shubman Gill bags the Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series awards. He scored 112 runs in the third ODI, and 259 runs in the three-match series at an average of 86.33.

Axar Patel gets the wicket of Gus Atkinson and India win the game by 142 runs. England are all out for 214. This is a convincing victory India and that also helps them complete the 3-0 clean sweep over the visitors. What a great rehearsal for the side ahead of the Champions Trophy that kicks off on February 19.

Hardik Pandya gets his second wicket and England are nine down now. It was a short ball bowled outside off stump. Wood hit it well but found Shreyas Iyer at deep cover.

“Are you serious? Taking a review when you’ve nicked the ball. How can a batter not know when he has nicked the ball, especially when the bat has not hit the boot, pad or the ground? This is international cricket. This is not school cricket where you sometimes might not know,” Sunil Gavaskar was heard as saying on-air while criticising Tom Banton for wasting England’s review.

Kuldeep Yadav strikes. He has got the wicket of Tom Banton. The ball spun away from Banton and took a faint outside edge of his bat. Umpire raised his finger but Banton decided to review it. As the snickometer showed a faint edge when the ball passed the bat, third umpire too ruled it out. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar blasted at Banton for burning the review. “This is not school cricket,” he said.

12.6 – It was a great chance for India to send England three down, but Axar Patel has made a massive blunder here. Banton played the ball towards point and tried to take a single. Some miscommunication in running saw him getting standed at the middle with Axar having the ball in hand and being really close to the stumps. A confusion erupted in Axar’s mind whether to hit the stumps from that distance or run to it with the ball. He ended up with a throw, which to everyone’s surprise missed the stumps to see Banton survive. “I think he panicked,” said former England captain Kevin Pietersen on-air.

While they got off to a really good start, England now find themselves in a state of bother as they are two down. They need another solid partnership from here to put the pressure back on India. Tom Banton and Joe Root are in the rescue act for the visitors at the moment.
