India vs Australia Live Cricket Score, 3rd Test Day 1, India National Cricket Team vs Australia National Cricket Team: Hello and welcome to the live blog of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Gabba, Brisbane.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has won the toss and opted to field first. India has made two changes to the playing XI. Ravindra Jadeja and Akash Deep are playing today in place of R Ashwin and Harshit Rana.
With the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy locked at 1-1, Brisbane could well decide the course of the rubber and whether Rohit’s men will continue to be the masters of their fate in the ongoing World Test Championship. For India, the biggest hope remains in Australia’s batting vulnerability, which can lead to an implosion if a certain Travis Head doesn’t decide to be the marauder.
India: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep
Australia: Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey (WK), Pat Cummins (C), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
UPDATE – 2 am GMT – The rain is coming down quite heavily now, and puddles have already started to form on the outfield. However, the positive news is that The Gabba has a sand-based outfield, so drainage won’t be an issue. Typically, rain breaks tend to halt the batting side’s momentum, forcing them to reset. In this case, the Indian seamers were just beginning to find their rhythm, troubling both Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney with a few close calls. As a result, Australia might actually welcome this break, while India may not be as pleased with the interruption. Stay tuned for more news.
