NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State golf programs will host a free junior golf clinic for kids at the Weibring Golf Course on Saturday, August 24.
The clinic registration begins at 2:45 and is open for kids entering third through eighth grade and will run from 3-4:30 p.m. Instruction will be provided by Redbird golf student-athletes and coaches. All registrants are asked to bring their own set of golf clubs and a water bottle.
All activities will be held at the exclusive team practice facility, the Mounier Golf Training Center. Clinic attendees will be divided into groups and each group will have an ISU student-athlete as their “coach” for the session. Everyone will be gathered at 3 p.m. for a 15-minute demonstration of basics by Illinois State head coaches Ray Kralis and Breanne Hall, and a handful of student-athletes.
Following the demonstration, the kids will be split into the assigned groups, and student-athletes will lead participants onto the range to play a six-hole short course in a scramble format. While playing on the course, participants will receive group one-on-one instruction, as well as game overview advice from their student-athlete.
Parents are invited to stay during the clinic and support their junior. Please bring a blanket or pop-up chair to sit and watch.
Advanced registration is required, and spots will be limited, so sign up quickly. Register at: https://forms.gle/4ekNcRj313JTPmrS9
