SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Police Department shut down another gambling den occurring within the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood.
Officers were investigating three businesses that were allegedly working as gambling parlors in the 400 block of Ellis Street and 300 block of Jones Street.
They began searching the businesses around 4:25 p.m. Tuesday. During the searches, several people were detained.
In the searches, police recovered several illegal gambling machines, suspected narcotics, over 80 items believed to have been stolen in organized retail theft, and over $30,000.
Four San Francisco men were arrested during the search and seizure.
What’s next:
Police arrested 25-year-old Hicham Haddaj for selling methamphetamine, operating or maintaining a drug house, participating in illegal gambling, resisting or delaying arrest, receiving stolen property, and knowingly permitting illegal gaming or gambling.
Additionally, 38-year-old Jaime Gomez-Macias, was arrested for receiving stolen property, operating or maintaining a drug house, participating in illegal gambling, and knowingly permitting illegal gaming or gambling.
Also arrested was Donald Redmond Hayes, 22, for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of sedatives for sale, false impersonation and illegal gambling.
Matthew Satawake, 34, was arrested for participating in illegal gambling and participating in betting or wagering.
Eleven other people were cited for misdemeanor violations.
