WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Baylor football players assisted kids with disabilities to play football in their 11th annual No Limitations Super Bowl
No Limitations is a non-profit that holds adapted sporting events for kids with disabilities.
The football season starts in January. Local high school football players assist the kids during the regular season. For the past five seasons, the Baylor football team has assisted them in the Super Bowl.
“Just their presence here brings so much energy and excitement and makes our kids and their families so seen and loved and treasured so it’s exciting to me that they do that,” No Limitations board member Kari McKown said.
Thomas Hawthorne, who is wheelchair-bound, competed in his second No Limitations Super Bowl. Hawthorne wants to play football as an adult, and his father, Jeremy Davis, said No Limitations gave him the chance to live that dream.
“He always talks about sports and always wants to play football so I was happy that he gets this avenue to fulfill those dreams,” Davis said.
Hawthorne goes by the nickname “T3″ on the field. Baylor football freshman Edward Griffin assisted Hawthorne in the Super Bowl. Hawthorn said scoring touchdowns and making tackles were his favorite moments.
“I feel like I’m in the NFL,” Hawthorne said.
Kids with No Limitations also had the opportunity to participate in cheerleading during the games.
