Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
The guys are back for the first show of the offseason, and the Big Ten never fails to give us news.
In an Ohio State themed Traffic Update, Dante and Jordan get into Penn State’s hiring of Jim Knowles. We may never know the reason for Knowles leaving the Buckeyes. Whether it was money, drama amongst the coaching staff, or a desire to coach at the school he was a fan of as a child, Knowles has moved on to State College. This ratchets up the pressure on Penn State to win a national championship in 2025.
In other Ohio State news, programs across the country unsuccessfully tried to tamper with OSU’s roster.
In a saga that has lasted over a year, Michigan is fighting back against the NCAA’s Notice of Allegations. According to the Wolverines, there was a little in-person scouting, but since the NCAA didn’t do enough to prove the scouting affected the play on the field, they believe the violations should be dropped from Level One to Level Two and a slap on the wrist.
There’s no way that the NCAA is going to go easy on Michigan unless they believe that Sherrone Moore, the former offensive coordinator and current head coach, deleted his text with Connor Stallions because he was angry with Stallions for hurting the players. We’ll be on the lookout, as the sanctions should be coming in a couple of months.
While the college football season has ended, the NFL is still playing games, including the conference championship games last weekend. Despite the social media criticism, Josh Allen did not get a first down and the refs made the right call. After all his success in the NFL, has Patrick Mahomes officially become the boogeyman? He seems unbeatable in his quest for the first three-peat in the Super Bowl era.
While the Commanders ultimately fell to the Eagles, they’re going to be a contender for years to come.
In his weekly pitstop, Jordan asks for everyone to read a book. Often as adults, we talk about how much we used to love reading, so in 2025 let’s all start reading again.
