DORADO, Puerto Rico — Led by a tie for 28th place from Herman Huus, who posted a 1-under total over the 54-hole event, App State Men’s Golf finished 16th at the Dorado Beach Collegiate as play concluded Tuesday.
On the par-72 layout at TPC Dorado Beach, Huus followed an opening-round 71 with consecutive 72s to finish at 215. He tied for 14th in his first spring tournament last week.
As a team, App State posted a 1-over total of 289 in the final round to finish with a 16-over 880.
Rob Bergevin was App State’s No. 2 finisher, tying for 43rd place with a 2-over total that included two even-par rounds (72-74-72—218). Colin Browning was App State’s third-best finisher, highlighted by a 1-under 71 in the final round as part of an 11-over total.
Ben Read and Ben Locker (competing as an individual) both shot final-round 74s and finished at 12 over. Alex Martin had his best round on Sunday, when he posted a 74.
UNCG finished at 29 under and won the team title by eight strokes. Winthrop’s Jeff Nelson was the medalist at 11 under, two strokes ahead of a second-place tie.
The 2024-25 season is presented by Hound Ears Club. App State is back in action from March 10-11, when it hosts the Surf Club Invitational in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
