WESTON, Fla. – Jamal Hutchison of North Carolina Central captured the Arcis HBCU Championship on Monday.
Hutchison shot a four-under par 176 to place first out of 30 Division I golfers in the two-day tournament. He held a two-stroke first-round lead after shooting a three-under par 69 on Sunday.
The Eagles’ sophomore carded a one-over par 73 in the second round. He bounced back Monday with a two-under par 34 to win the tournament. The third round was shortened to nine holes.
In the team standings, NCCU placed fifth out of six schools with a 62-over par 782. Florida A&M won the event with a six-over 726 which was 42 strokes better than second-place Chicago State.
The Eagles are back on the course March 10-11 at The Surf Club Invitational in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
