Score another tournament victory for the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team.
The Badgers capped off their holiday weekend by defeating VCU 58-45 Saturday on the final day of competition at the Cancun Challenge.
Carter McCray scored a game-high 19 points to lead two teammates in double figures as the Badgers went 2-1 at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico.
Wisconsin opened the 10-team tournament with a loss to San Diego State on Thursday before following up with a win over Providence on Friday.

At 7-2, the Badgers are off to their best start since 2018-19 — also their best under Marisa Moseley.
Led by McCray’s 8-for-9 performance from the field, Wisconsin shot 41.5% (23-52) from the field Saturday, which included going 4-for-22 from 3-point range.
The Rams (4-4) didn’t help themselves offensively, shooting just 29% (18-for-62) from the field and 26.1% (6 of 23) from behind the arc.
Wisconsin owned the interior, holding a 32-14 scoring advantage in the paint while also blocking eight shots.
After taking a 14-7 first-quarter lead, Wisconsin ballooned its advantage to 31-15 on a Lily Krahn 3-pointer heading into the break.
McCray, who finished with eight rebounds, scored eight points in the first half.
VCU got within one point in the second half but a 13-2 run sealed the Badgers’ victory.
Serah Williams and Ronnie Porter scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Wisconsin. Williams also had nine rebounds, tying VCU’s Mary-Anna Asare for game-high honors. Asare also led the Rams with 14 points.
Wisconsin will open Big Ten Conference play on Dec. 8 against Rutgers at the Kohl Center.
