The second event of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup playoffs, the BMW Championship is officially underway, with the roster of golfers cut down to those ranked 50 and above in PGA standings.
As is typically the case, the favorites to win this BMW Championship are names often floating near the top of the standings: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Rory McIlroy, who are first, second, and fifth in overall standings.
Last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship was won by Hideki Matsuyama (currently third in the PGA Tour standings).

From this weekend’s tournament, only the top 30 will advance to the third and final stage of the FedEx Cup Playoffs: the TOUR Championship, which kicks off in exactly one week.

Since the tournament is partially airing on live TV, the only free way to watch the 2024 BMW Championship if you don’t have cable is with a live TV streaming service.
Our favorite is DIRECTV Stream, which comes with a five-day free trial — long enough to watch all of the televised portions of the BMW Championship without paying a cent.
You’ll have to subscribe to the Choice plan, as it’s the lowest-priced one that includes both NBC and the Golf Channel.
As noted above, ESPN+ and Peacock will carry every day of the BMW Championship, with ESPN+ having all four days from beginning to end. Peacock costs $7.99/month with ads, while ESPN+ is $10.99/month.
If you’re planning on tuning into next week’s PGA TOUR Championship finale as well, we recommend signing up for Peacock — the tournament will also be airing on that service.
The BMW Championship is being played at Castle Pines Golf Club in Denver, CO.
