By the end of the night, one American will be on the cusp of making history at the 2024 US Open.
An American man hasn’t won a grand slam since 2001, but thanks to a semifinal match between Americans Taylor Fritz (in his first grand slam semifinal appearance) and Frances Tiafoe, one will play for the title on Sunday. Tonight’s match determines who.
Both Fritz and Tiafoe, ranked No. 12 and No. 20 respectively, bested players with a higher ranking than them in the quarterfinals to earn their spots in the semifinals. Fritz won against No. 4 Alexander Zverev, while Tiafoe advanced following a victory over No. 9 Grigor Dimitrov.
Tonight, the semifinal match air live on ESPN and ESPN+.
Taylor Fritz and Francis Tiafoe face off tonight, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
