After retiring from competition himself, snowboarder Shaun White founded The Snow League, the first professional league dedicated to snowboarding and freeskiing. This week, the league will officially kick off at Aspen Snowmass in Colorado with the first of four international events featuring some of the world’s most elite snowboarders. The Aspen event will feature multiple snowboarding halfpipe events (freeskiing will be added as an event at the second Snow League competition which will be held later this year in China). 36 premier athletes, like 2022 Olympic gold medalist Ayumu Hirano of Japan and Americans Chase Josey, Chase Blackwell and Maddie Mastro, will be competing at this week’s event. Hip-hop artist Big Boi will also perform live from the event on Saturday.
