Michigan falls from No. 10 to No. 17 in the AP poll following a 31-12 home loss to then-No. 3 Texas at home in Week 2. In a matchup where yards were hard to find, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was the most effective player on either side with his 24-of-36 passing day with 246 yards and three touchdowns. The Longhorns scored 17 straight points before the half to up their lead to 24-3 and stymied the Wolverines offense to the tune of 82 rushing yards and a 3-of-12 showing on third downs.

Arkansas State does carry a perfect 2-0 record into a road underdog role against mighty Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Red Wolves won close contests against Central Arkansas (34-31) and Tulsa (28-24) to add a layer of confidence for back-to-back road trips to Michigan and then to No. 21 Iowa State (Sept. 21).
