DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — With some of the biggest days for holiday shopping behind us, chances are you might be expecting packages in the mail over the next few weeks, which gives scammers and criminals a lot of opportunities.
John North, president of the Dayton Better Business Bureau sat down with 2 NEWS to share tips on how to prevent criminal activity while waiting for deliveries.
Some scams come through digitally — in the form of text or email. While awaiting a delivery, some scammers will mimic the mail carrier in order to scam you. Do not open any links or provide personal information online if the message seems suspicious.
Some scams come right to your front door, as well as thieves. Having a video camera doorbell system or having a trustworthy neighbor keep an eye out for your deliveries can help prevent scammers and thieves from taking advantage of you.
