How CFB fan bases (probably) reacted to the second CFP rankings | Before The Snap
For The Win’s Before The Snap returns with a sketch-comedy reaction to the second College Football Playoff rankings.
Penn State football and its season-ticket holders are preparing for a potential College Football Playoff game in Beaver Stadium next month.
This week, university officials emailed season ticket holders about the process for acquiring tickets for what would be a historic game. The Nittany Lions are in line, with three games to go, to host their first postseason game in the expanded playoff structure.
If the Lions beat decided underdogs Purdue and Minnesota and Maryland, as expected, they almost certainly will be gifted an extra home game the weekend before Christmas in the opening round of the 12-team playoff. The run begins Saturday (3:30 p.m., CBS) against a 1-8 Boilermakers’ team.
So how to get a playoff seat?
The process begins with Penn State season-ticket holders who, according to the email, will have the “exclusive opportunity” to reserve their seat locations for that possible first-round game on Dec. 20 or 21. They must reserve their seats by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.
They’ll receive pricing options when logging into their accounts.
Penn State will use only mobile ticketing, and officials will not charge buyers’ credit cards until the playoff field is announced Dec. 8.
Season-ticket holders also will be able to purchase their regular-season parking spots for the playoff game − though parking options will be “weather dependent and could be adjusted based on lot conditions.”
No other ticketing details or options for a potential home playoff game have been announced yet.
The Lions (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) are fourth in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings and would be the sixth seed if the playoff field was set this week. They must be in the No. 5 through No. 8 spots in the final CFP rankings to ensure a home playoff game. The four highest-ranked conference champions receive a first-round bye.
First-round playoff games will be held on campus sites and are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 20 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, Dec. 21 (noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.).
