UNC basketball’s Hubert Davis talks Tar Heels ahead of season opener
North Carolina basketball coach Hubert Davis provided his thoughts on the Tar Heels ahead of the Nov. 4 opener vs. Elon at the Smith Center.
The 2024-25 season has arrived for North Carolina basketball, which begins its fourth season under head coach Hubert Davis hoping to compete for a national championship at the 2025 Final Four in San Antonio.
The Tar Heels, led by fifth-year guard RJ Davis, have a crowd of new faces around their returning All-American and reigning ACC Player of the Year. Drake Powell and Ian Jackson headline a highly-ranked recruiting class around Davis and sophomore guard Elliot Cadeau.
UNC also added Belmont transfer Cade Tyson and Vanderbilt transfer Ven-Allen Lubin as two players expected to contribute as pieces from the portal.

Here’s a breakdown of ticket prices for the Tar Heels’ schedule in the 2024-25 season.
Fans can purchase UNC basketball single-game tickets through the athletics department at GoHeels.com. Tickets for Alabama, Stanford, Virginia, Miami and Duke are sold out. As for the secondary market, fans can purchase UNC men’s basketball tickets through StubHub and SeatGeek.
Getting tickets to the Dean E. Smith Center, because of its size, is easier to get than at some programs. Nearly 22,000 fans can fill in the Dean Dome for UNC home games. The Tar Heels have several big-time opportunities in true road games, as well as neutral-site venues. StubHub tickets for the season opener against Elon started at $8. SeatGeek tickets for the season opener started at $3.
