OXFORD — The time is coming to officially find out if Ole Miss football did enough to make the College Football Playoff.
The Rebels (9-3, 5-3 SEC) had a season filled with highs and lows. At some moments this season, such as a Week 11 victory over Georgia (10-2, 6-2), Ole Miss looked like a team worth of a spot in the CFP. At other moments, such as the Week 4 home loss to Kentucky (4-8, 1-7), the Rebels exhibited critical flaws.
Even with an Egg Bowl win to close the year, the Rebels’ season ended on a largely sour note after a 24-17 loss at Florida (7-5, 4-4) in Week 14.
The final College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
The Rebels are unlikely to make the College Football Playoff. Ole Miss was No. 13 in the most recent CFP rankings and will need an unexpected last-second change to climb into the bracket.
Fans can watch ESPN starting at 11 a.m. CT to watch the bracket and rankings unveiled live. The show is slated to end at 3 p.m.
This is the first year 12 teams make the College Football Playoff. The five highest-ranked conference champions will be awarded automatic bids. Of those five teams, the top four will get byes in the first round. The other seven slots are awarded to the remaining highest-ranked teams.
