How did the rest of the NBA let the Boston Celtics sign free agent guard Lonnie Walker IV? He was perhaps the best unsigned free agent left on the board at the time that the news of the Celtics inking Walker to a one-year, Exhibit 10 deal broke earlier this week. With Boston not exactly flush with playing time for deeper rotation players, there is either a real dearth of good landing spots for the former Brooklyn Nets wing, or the Celtics may be able to find ways to fit the new signing into the rotation in creative ways (should he make the team’s regular season roster).
To talk about how the signing came about, what it means, and how it could pan out, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast, Adam Kaufman and Evan Valenti, sat down with esteemed Heavy reporter Steve Bulpett. They take a magnifying glass to the unexpected signing, as well as the growth of Boston star forward Jayson Tatum.
Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about a most unusual offseason to date.
