How many games will the Houston football team win in 2025?

Here’s an early game-by-game win-loss prediction for the Cougars for their 2025 schedule, beginning with that home game against Stephen F. Austin and concluding with a game at Baylor on Nov. 29.

The Cougars will also host Colorado, Texas Tech, Arizona, West Virginia and TCU this season. They will play at Rice, Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and UCF, looking to improve on their 4-8 overall record and 3-6 Big 12 record in 2024.

Aug. 30: Stephen F. Austin at Houston

It’s vital for the Cougars to get off to a good start this season after they opened last season with losses in four of their first five games. They’ll start strong.

Game prediction: Houston 31, Stephen F. Austin 20

Houston record prediction: 1-0

Sept. 6: Houston at Rice

Houston beat Rice at home last season, 33-7. It gets to face the Owls on the road in 2025. The result should be similar, giving the Cougars a 2-0 start.

Sept. 13: Colorado at Houston

Coach Prime comes to Houston without Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and others, but the Buffaloes will still have a lot of firepower, particularly on offense.

Sept. 27: Houston at Oregon State

Oregon State was 5-7 last season, but the Beavers did go 4-3 at home. Bad news for the Cougars.

Oct. 4: Texas Tech at Houston

Texas Tech could contend for the Big 12 title. This game could see a lot of fireworks, but the Red Raiders will be too much for the Cougars.

Oct. 11: Houston at Oklahoma State

This game could make or break the season for the Cougars. We just think that Oklahoma State is going to be much improved after its disaster of a season in 2024.

Oct. 18: Arizona at Houston

The Wildcats beat the Cougars last season, 27-3, but that game was in Tucson. This game in Houston will be much closer, but we expect the same team to win the game.

Oct. 25: Houston at Arizona State

The Cougars face the Sun Devils for the first time as Big 12 rivals. Unfortunately, Houston has to play this game in Tempe, where ASU didn’t lose a game in 2024.

Nov. 1: West Virginia at Houston

The Cougars end a five-game skid with a thrilling win over the Mountaineers, giving new life to the Houston football team.

Nov. 8: Houston at UCF

After breaking through for their first Big 12 win, the Cougars decide to turn it into a win streak with a win at rebuilding UCF, their first Big 12 road win since Oct. 4 of 2024.

Game prediction: Houston 27, UCF 24

Houston record prediction: 4-6 (2-5 Big 12)

Nov. 22: TCU at Houston

TCU was the team that lost to Houston in the Cougars’ most recent road win on Oct. 4 last year, falling at home, 30-19. You can bet the Horned Frogs remember.
