MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) -Today was the final day of Home for the Holiday Gift Market at the Bush Convention Center in Midland.
With the holiday season approaching, the Home for the Holiday Market gives people a head start on Christmas shopping.
“I wanted to do things differently. We had shown that were very expensive and by the time you went home you had little profit left or we had reasonable shows. Still, it wasn’t bringing in the people so I wanted to do something different from a vendor’s perspective,” said the Owner and Creator of Home for the Holiday Gift Market Stacie Bowles.
The Home for the Holiday Gift Market offers an early shopping experience and holiday celebration.
People can enjoy concessions and take pictures with Santa.
With over 130 small vendors at the event showcasing handcrafted designs, jewelry, food, clothing, art, and more.
“From Mexico, I brought handcraft pottery and clay paint and metal art so we try to bring many handcrafted to all the local people here so they can enjoy so they won’t have to go far.” said the Owner of Artsoba Imports Sergio Ponce.
“We decided to do it online and do a couple of pop-ups last year in between graduating and everything, so this is our big market of the year that we are excited about,” said Owner of Granny B’s McKenzie Millican.
The Home for the Holidays gift market started in the Houston area until Covid hit and the organizers added more shows and started to host the event in Plano, Waxahachie, Waco, and other areas across Texas.
The organizers decided to host the Home for the Holidays Gift Market in Midland for the first time.
“We just heard there are not many shows out here. We heard you guys have a nice town and good economy and we thought it would be a great fit for you guys,” said Stacie Bowles
The home for the holidays market is to support small businesses in the area and for people to start their holiday shopping.
“This helps us out tremendously it gives us a chance to put our names out there,” said McKenzie Millican.
“They do shows 4 months of the year so that makes anywhere from 12 to 16 weekends they do a show, so every weekend is so important because one weekend is like a whole month for someone who has a regular job,” said Stacie Bowles
The organizers said they are planning to return to the Bush Convention Center.
