SAGINAW TWP, MI – Clothing retailer H&M has closed its doors at Fashion Square Mall in Saginaw Township.
The store closed permanently on Saturday, Jan. 4. Mall officials announced the news via the Fashion Square Facebook page this week.
“Please let this be a reminder of the ever-changing retail landscape. While we’ll miss the style and convenience they brought to our community, this moment is also an opportunity to look forward and support the businesses that continue to call the mall home—and those that are yet to come. So they can provide us with what we are looking for: a mall that is filled with commUNITY, joy, fashion, food, fun and entertainment,“ the post reads in part.
H&M’s closure comes amid announcements of several chain retailers closing in Saginaw Township and neighboring Kochville Township, including Dunham’s Sports, Edible Arrangements and Party City.
Mall officials closed their note to customers with a call to shop and dine locally so brick-and-mortar businesses can succeed here.
“Fashion Square Mall has been a cornerstone of our community for decades, with many shops that have served us faithfully year after year. Let’s show our appreciation by shopping local, dining at mall eateries, and welcoming new businesses with open arms. Together, we can keep our mall vibrant and continue to help it thrive and increase with the ever changing landscape of retail especially in communities like ours,” the post reads.
“To the H&M team, thank you for being part of our community. And to everyone who loves this mall as much as we do—your continued support makes all the difference. Tag H&M to share your favorite moment of this store over the years!”
Fashion Square Mall is located on Bay Road near the intersection of Bay and Tittabawassee in Saginaw Township. It’s anchor stores include JCPenney and Macy’s. For more information, visit www.shopfashionsquaremall.com.
