Salazar’s salary in 2024 was $126,360 – nearly double the median annual wage in Eanes Independent School District.
Salazar has served as Westlake’s head football coach since 2022 while also holding the role of assistant athletic director. Before his promotion, he spent nearly a decade as the team’s defensive coordinator – playing a key role in Westlake’s three straight state championships.
In 2024, the Chaparrals finished with a 14-2 record and reached the state championship game.
