Kansas basketball coach Bill Self on Jayhawks’ potential in 2024-25
Check out everything Kansas basketball head coach Bill Self had to say Monday ahead of Late Night in the Phog and the start of the Jayhawks’ season.
LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball still has the 2024 edition to play, but the Jayhawks now know where the 2025 Champions Classic will be played.
An ESPN Events release Tuesday outlined next year’s matchup between Duke and Kansas, which is a part of the annual event, will take place in New York City at Madison Square Garden. The game will be played on Nov. 18, 2025, just as a game between Michigan State and Kentucky will be. It’ll ensure that Kansas and Duke will play each other in back-to-back seasons, given that during the 2024-25 season they’ll face off in the Vegas Showdown.
Kansas basketball: What could freshman Rakease Passmore’s role be? He has an idea
This year, in the Champions Classic, Kansas is going to play Michigan State on Nov. 12 in Atlanta. It’ll be the first time the Jayhawks and Spartans will have played against each other since the 2021-22 season, also in the Champions Classic. Kansas won that game and later that season went on to win the national championship.
This season’s Kansas team features a trio of key returners in graduate guard Dajuan Harris Jr., senior forward KJ Adams Jr. and graduate center Hunter Dickinson. There are also a number of high-profile newcomers, including transfers such as junior guard AJ Storr, senior guard Zeke Mayo and junior guard Rylan Griffen. They are all led, of course, by head coach Bill Self.
