HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – A U.S. Golf Senior Amateur qualifying event was held at Lochland Country Club in Hastings.
Hastings native and current Lincoln resident Ed Wyatt won the event finishing three under par.
“I’ve played here many times, I grew up across the street from the 11th tee box, so it’s pretty special, I certainly was thinking of my parents, it’s just fun to be back in Hastings and special to do it where I grew up,” said Wyatt.
Wyatt led throughout the day, winning the event on his former home course by two strokes, setting up the chance of a lifetime.
“As amateurs USGA national events is as big as it gets, it’s just awesome, it’s a bucket list item to finally get to play in a USGA national event,” said Wyatt.
The U.S. Senior Amateur will take place from Aug. 24-29 at the Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
