Global Sports Communication announced today that Olympic marathon champion Sifan Hassan has joined forces with the Qatar Foundation as a Track & Field Ambassador for their Creating Pathways program. This partnership aims to inspire young women to embrace physical activity. And to overcome cultural and societal challenges, and unlock their potential through sports.
During her visit to Doha, Hassan had the opportunity to meet with a group of girls enrolled in the Qatar Foundation’s program. She participated in a special run with the girls. She offered personal advice and shared her journey as an elite athlete through a Q & A session. Through these interactions, Hassan emphasized the importance of perseverance, dedication, and the benefits of physical fitness for mental and physical well-being.
“We face challenges related to physical health and mental well-being, often due to excessive screen time and a lack of exercise,” said Hassan. “I believe that encouraging everyone to get outside and run can significantly improve our lives and contribute to a healthier, happier world. I’m excited to help this cause and to inspire young Muslim women—and others—to achieve more in life thanks to sport.”
Hassan hopes to create a lasting impact. By engaging directly with the girls in the program, helping them realize the potential within themselves.
Hassan is a three-time Olympic gold medallist, with two wins in Tokyo and one during the Paris Games. The golds came in the 5000m, 10,000m in 2021 Tokyo and the marathon in this summer’s Paris Olympic Games. The 31-year-old also earned three bronze medals, once each in the 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m. She is a two-time World Champion and has won six medals in the World Athletics Championships. Hassan won the 2023 Chicago Marathon in her debut at the distance clocking 2:13:44.
