ROGERS, Ark. — The 21st-ranked Harding men’s golf team is tied for first place with Henderson State at 22 over after one round and part of another at the Shadow Valley Invitational.
Play was suspended due to rain and darkness on Monday with all 17 teams still on the course at Shadow Valley Country Club. Harding carded an 8-over 296 in the opening round on the par-72, 7,101-yard course.
Harding’s Jose Manuel Peralta, ranked 85th nationally, is the current individual leader. He shot a 2-under 70 in the first round and was 1-under through 17 holes in the second round.
Bison Jose Arzu is tied for sixth at 5 over, while Finlay Cummings is 27th at 11 over. Christian Lindgreen is 37th at 12 over, and Austin Bibb is 65th at 17 over.
The Bisons are competing without Dennis Staykov, ranked 89th nationally, due to an injury.
Harding leads the tournament in par-4 scoring, averaging 4.34 shots per hole, and has made a tournament-best 97 pars. Peralta has played the par 4s at 3 under, averaging 3.84 strokes per hole, while Arzu leads the tournament with 23 pars.
The teams will resume play Tuesday at noon, complete the second round and play the third round.
