SEATTLE − For the second straight contest, Iowa women’s basketball will try to win a crucial game without one of its best players.
Forward Hannah Stuelke will not play in Wednesday’s 8 p.m. CT matchup against Washington. The 6-foot-2 junior was listed as out on the Hawkeyes’ availability report, which was released three hours before tip-off. She suffered a concussion she suffered last Thursday against Nebraska and missed the first game of the team’s West Coast swing.
Iowa head coach Jan Jensen said Stuelke’s concussion was “a pretty bad one,” in a postgame interview with the Des Moines Register on Sunday after a 50-49 loss at Oregon.
The Hawkeyes (12-7 overall, 2-6 Big Ten Conference) are trying to snap a five-game losing streak against the Huskies (13-6, 4-3). Without Stuelke, look for Addison O’Grady to get her second consecutive start at the “5” spot for Iowa.
Iowa was listed as a 3½-point favorite. The game is being streamed on Peacock. After this, the Hawkeyes don’t play again until Tuesday vs. Northwestern (7 p.m. CT, BTN).
