There’s not a vast amount of other early pace expected, so now’s the chance from a decent post draw. Win-place bet #4. Exacta box 4-7 with respected favorite #7 Ice Chocolat.

#7 Belts ‘n Brooks (7-2 morning line odds) goes for a high-percentage trainer-jockey combo of Nolan Ramsey and Edwin Gonzalez (5-for-12 in tandem for a $2.08 ROI for every $1 bet). Gonzalez will be aboard the late runner for the first time and some additional distance from recent starts could help. Favorite #5 Freedom Road was a win machine last year with eight consecutive victories, but his last was terrible on the synthetic surface and many will just assume a return to top form with this race being contested on dirt. But difficult to take a short price off his last. Win bet #7.
