Top Selection/Prime Play: 1-Rapture (3-1)

Forecast: Winning on debut from the rail over a one-turn mile isn’t the easiest of tasks, but the first timer Rapture may be a cut above the norm, so let’s try this well-regarded juvenile colt on top in this competitive affair that likely will require a pretty good colt to win it. The son of Uncle Mo has done very well in his morning trials to be fit and ready for trainer B. Cox, so if he can leave with his field and secure a pace stalking or pressing trip the $300,000 Keeneland yearling purchase could win right off the bat. He’s listed at 3-1 on the morning line and will offer solid value on the tote at or near that price.

LOS ALAMITOS RACE 8: Post: 3:54 PT Grade: B+
Top Selection/Prime Play: 5-Journalism

Forecast: Journalism was visually quite impressive breaking his maiden two turning at Santa Anita last month and we suspect will continue to step forward with experience and maturity. The odds-on 2/5 favorite in this year’s edition of the Los Alamitos Futurity-G2 – Gaming – will be very difficult to beat based on his established form, but if the Michael McCarthy-trained juvenile can continue to improve as much as we suspect he will he could very well make a serious run for it at a nice price. Listed at 3-1 on the morning line, the son of Curlin appears quite enticing in the win pool and in the various rolling exotics.
