MADISON – Five girls wrestlers from the Green Bay area have advanced to the semifinals after the first day of the state tournament at the Kohl Center.
Brooke Corrigan of De Pere (100 pounds), Taylor Whiting of Lena (114), Harlow Skenandore of Pulaski (145), Madalyn Sokolski of Bonduel (152) and Kiley Georgel of Luxemburg-Casco (185) all won two matches to advance to Friday’s state semifinals at 7 p.m.
Corrigan won both of her matches by pin, in 28 seconds and in 2:46. Whiting won her matches by pin in 16 seconds and by a 19-3 technical fall. Skenandore also won with two pins, in 48 seconds in the first round and in 1:20 in the quarterfinals.
Sokolski picked up a pair of pins, winning in 1:05 in the first round and 30 seconds in the quarterfinals. Georgel won by pin in 3:22 in the first round and by a 20-4 technical fall victory in the quarterfinals.
Division 1 boys
Luxemburg-Casco is sending two wrestlers to the semifinals in Division 1, while Pulaski, Bay Port and De Pere each got one wrestler to the semifinals.
Carson Neubert (126) and Blakelee Bastien (144) made the semifinals for Luxemburg-Casco. Neubert won by pin in 1:49 in the first round and by a 15-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals, while Bastien won by 16-0 technical fall in the first round and by 8-2 decision in the quarterfinals.
Owen Wathke (120) won by pin in 3:28 in the first round for Bay Port and by 7-0 decision in the quarterfinals.
Mycah Beckett (132) won both of his matches by pin for De Pere, winning in 57 seconds in the first round and in 1:55 in the quarterfinals.
Jack Falk (106) won by 12-1 major decision in the first round and won by pin in 48 seconds in the quarterfinals over Evan Lesselyong of Hortonville.
Division 2 boys
Coleman and Oconto Falls both had three wrestlers advance to the semifinals.
Moving on for Coleman are Conner Markiewicz (126), Micah Kuchta (175) and Devin Otto (285). Advancing for Oconto Falls are Isaiah Holtz (113), Cole Bozile (138) and Nick Trepanier (175).
Advancing for Seymour were Aidan Peters (126) and Cael Leisgang (215).
Other semifinalists in Division 2 include Louis Hock (144) of Wrightstown, Spencer Madsen (157) of Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol and Steven Kielpikowski (165) of Denmark.

Mitchell Boeder of Kewaunee advanced to the semifinals at 285 for the Storm.
GREEN BAY – The Redbirds outscored the Tritons by 13 points in the second half to rally for the win after trailing by eight at halftime.
Zach Kinziger led De Pere with 27 points. He was 11-for-12 at the free throw line. Roan Demovsky added 15 points.
Notre Dame was led by Andrew Rader with 14 points and Austin Hendricks scored 11.
