LEHIGH TWP., Pa. – A business offering chilled treats and family fun is bidding farewell in Northampton County.
Fore Scoops, an ice cream shop and miniature golf facility, permanently closed in December after four years of operation at 4315 W. Mountain View Drive in Lehigh Township, co-owner Jesse Probus confirmed on Friday.
Probus and his wife, Jess Probus, shuttered the business and sold the property as they look to spend more time with family.
The Walnutport couple opened Fore Scoops in August 2020 with a goal of bringing friends and family together to enjoy fresh eats and fun times.
They spent over a year updating the 8-acre, tree-filled property, which previously was home to other businesses, including Edgemont Acres Drive-In and Miniature Golf Course, and Casey’s Cafe & Mini Golf.
Fore Scoops offered mini golf, ice cream and freshly prepared food such as burgers and fries.
“It is with our absolute pleasure that we were able to serve each and every one of you throughout these last 4 years!” an announcement on Fore Scoops’ Facebook page reads.
“We worked so hard to bring the once unloved property back to life and we are so humbled you all enjoyed it so much! Now, it is time for us to move on & shift our busy summer schedules back to our kids who stood by us while we dedicated our time to Fore Scoops. We have handed over the keys to a new owner (who will create their own vision for the property, so stay tuned for that!), and we hope you all support them just as much as you did with us!”
In preparing to open Fore Scoops, the Probuses handled a bulk of the renovations, including installing new flooring and kitchen equipment inside the eatery and adding new speakers, landscaping and neon lighting outdoors.
They also refurbished some of the miniature golf course’s existing components, including a windmill and lighthouse, while adding new features such as fresh lining, obstacles and an automobile theme with tires, traffic signs and old vehicles.
The business was profitable, and the Probuses really enjoyed it, Jesse said.
However, the couple is looking forward to more family time, including summer vacations.
The Probuses are unsure of exactly what the future holds for the West Mountain View Drive site, but they expect it to remain a destination for food and entertainment, Jesse said.
The property’s new owner should be making an announcement regarding plans in the coming weeks, Jesse said.
“We hope you all have a wonderful New Year and we thank you again for your patronage!” the Fore Scoops announcement continues. “We especially want to thank our employees, who without them, we would never have been able to serve you all; our gratitude is immeasurable!”
Thursday’s online announcement garnered more than 180 reactions and more than 25 comments, primarily from individuals extending warm wishes to the Fore Scoops owners.
